Welcome to Grove Middle school. My name is Pat Dodson, Principal of GMS. The 2010-2011 school year will be my eighteenth year in the district and eighth as an administrator. My mission at Grove Middle school is to continue to develop and maintain an environment where every student feels recognized and safe, and understands that they are active participants in their own education and learning. GMS is in the process of becoming a model Great Expectation school. More than three-fourths of our staff is trained in the GE philosophy that establishes high academic standards, celebrates student success while ensuring a safe welcoming climate of mutual respect and good character.

I know that every parent wants their child to succeed, and that helping them succeed is a combined effort. Parental involvement and support are crucial elements of your child’s success; therefore I encourage you to volunteer and spend time at our school working with our staff to provide the most optimal learning environment possible. It is evident that students are most successful when all three components of the team are working together with a shared vision- the student, the family, and the school.

I look forward to the challenges, joys, trials, and triumphs that lie ahead for students, staff, parents and community members, as we endeavor to work together to provide opportunities for our most precious gifts…our children. As Franklin D. Roosevelt said; “We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future.”

Please feel free to call or email me with any comments, questions or concerns; I look forward to hearing from you!
